This policy explains how the “My First Planted Tree” platform, a project of the Environmental Information and Education Centre, handles information supplied when adding a seedling.
Last updated:
1. Operator and contact
The platform is operated within the project by the Environmental Information and Education Centre, a Legal Entity of Public Law. For privacy, correction or deletion questions, email us or use the contact page linked below.
2. Information we handle
- Participant information: first name, last name, an optional phone number and consent to process personal data. Adding a seedling does not require an email address.
- Seedling records: species, quantity, planting date, region, municipality, address or coordinates, comments, review status and photos you upload.
- Security information: a temporary seedling-submission session, IP address, browser technical information and records needed for security auditing.
3. Why we use information
- To store the participant details and seedling record you submit;
- to register seedlings, review records and manage statuses;
- to publish seedlings on a map and provide aggregate statistics without identifying the participant;
- to operate, secure, diagnose and support the service.
4. What may be public
The public map may show seedling details that do not identify a person, such as the planting point, species and quantity. It does not publish the participant’s name, phone number or uploaded photos.
Planting and growth photos are used for administrative review and are not published through a public file link.
5. Who may access information
Authorised Centre staff and technical service providers may access information only to the extent needed to operate, secure or support the platform.
6. Retention and deletion
Information is kept for as long as needed to provide project functions, maintain participant records, protect the service and handle justified requests. For a specific deletion request, we verify the requester and explain what was deleted or what must remain for security, record integrity or another applicable obligation.
7. Your choices and requests
You may ask for information about your data or request a correction or deletion. Before acting, we may need to confirm that the request concerns your record so that another person cannot change or delete your information.
9. Changes to this policy
If the way information is handled changes materially, we will update this page and its last-updated date.
Privacy requests
Contact us and briefly describe the record you want to access, correct or delete.
